Naomi Button
Naomi Button has over 20 years’ experience as a Therapist, Clinical Supervisor and Trainer. Her therapeutic expertise in infant, child and adolescent mental health is informed by post graduate training in child psychotherapy (Tavistock Clinic) and advanced play therapy practice (Play Therapy Australia).
Naomi is a Clinical and Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). She is a registered Play Therapist and Clinical Member of the Australian Play Therapists Association (APTA) and is a past President and current Advisory Board Member. Naomi is also a certified Filial and Child Centered Play Therapist through the National Institute of Relationship Enhancement (USA).
Naomi has held various government positions in Australia and the United Kingdom in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. She has also worked as a private practitioner and psychotherapist in Australia and South Africa.
Naomi specialises in providing contained reflective practice from infancy to adulthood based on high standards of risk analysis and therapeutic care. She strives to provide a safe therapeutic space for clients of all ages in which they can explore, reflect and discover new possibilities within. Her extensive experience in multidisciplinary and complex case management provides the foundations for offering in-depth case conceptualisation, assessment, treatment planning and therapy.
Naomi’s therapeutic skills include creative and expressive modalities, Child Centered Play and Filial Therapy (strengthening the parent/child relationship), Narrative Therapy, systemic family practice, attachment-based and trauma informed practice
Over the last 10 years Naomi has regularly conducted training to small and large groups in Australia and overseas on advanced therapeutic practice. Naomi instructs mental health practitioners in Child Centered Play Therapy and Filial Therapy and is a long-standing trainer in this field She also provides supervision, mentoring and clinical consultation to a variety of allied health and medical professionals in a number of therapeutic modalities.
