
Sally May
Sally has over 20 years’ experience as a Social Worker and Therapist. Her therapeutic expertise in infant and child mental health is informed by post graduate training in advanced Play Therapy Practice (Play Therapy Australia).
Sally is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). She is a registered Play Therapist Supervisor and Clinical Member of the Australian Play Therapists Association (APTA) and has sat on APTA board for over 9 years.
Over the past 20 years, Sally has worked across community mental health services, schools, and private practice in both the UK and Australia. With a strong background in trauma-informed practice, she integrates evidence-based social work approaches with the healing power of play therapy to create safe, supportive environments where clients can process emotions, build resilience, and thrive.

Grounded in empathy, collaboration, and cultural sensitivity, Sally’s work empowers clients to find their voice and navigate life’s challenges with confidence. She has a strong interest and expertise in supporting individuals through medical trauma, as well as grief and loss.
Sally’s therapeutic skills include Child-Centred Play Therapy, Filial (Child-Parent Relationship) Therapy, EMDR Level 1, and attachment-based, trauma-informed practice.
She believes children have an innate potential for growth, development and healing and as research tells us child centred play therapy can effectively support the change process. Play Therapy is the perfect way for children to express their world and try out new ways of being, to tell their story and to feel supported.
